A kind hearted member of Whitehaven AFC has inspired others to fundraise in aid of Prostate Cancer.

Alex Kitchen (13) who plays for our Under 13 Boys has decided to take part in a January Challenge to run 1 Marathon across the month (26.2 miles) in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. Father Stephen Kitchen, who is also a coach at Whitehaven AFC said "I am extremely proud of Alex, this was all his own idea to keep fit during lockdown and fundraise for a cause very close to his heart. Prostate Cancer has affected us in the family so Alex wanted to raise as much as he could"

So far Alex has raised over £600 after initially setting a target of £100.

Other members of Whitehaven AFC have also joined Alex in running this January for Prostate Cancer UK.

Jenson Bristoe (12) who also plays for our Under 13's has also joined up to raise Money for Prostate Cancer UK. Jenson has so far raised nearly £500!

Also joining in is Charlie Hodgson who has raised a whopping £200!

Luke Johnston, Club Chairman said: "A huge well done to the lads for their fundraising efforts, collectively raising over £1000 for Prostate Cancer UK. Im aware some other members of the Under 13's are also taking part in this challenge so a huge well done to them also! The charity is a very worth one, Prostate Cancer kills one man every 45 minutes in the UK making it the most commonly diagnosed cancer. A huge well done to the lads for using their initiative."
