Whitehaven Amateurs team up to help tackle period poverty

Updated: Feb 7

Whitehaven Amateurs have signed up to help with the Hey Girls campaign to eradicate period poverty across Cumbria.

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has partnered with social enterprise Hey Girls to provide complimentary period products to staff and help tackle period poverty across Cumbria.

In addition, for every product ordered by the NDA one is also donated to community partners like local charity the Whitehaven Community Trust to support people across the region, with around 3,000 products being donated so far.

The club has stepped up to be a collection point for these packs.

Juliet Buchanan, Whitehaven AFC Welfare Officer said "As a club situated in known areas of deprivation, we were delighted to offer a safe place for people to come and collect these packs. The packs will be available to collect discretely from the Ladies toilet facilities situated inside the clubhouse"
