Amateurs & Reds share Hocking Trophy in great opener

July 15, 2018

Whitehaven Amateurs welcomed Workington Reds for the Shaun Hocking Memorial trophy, which has always gave both teams a great pre season run out.

Reds opened the scoring with a finish by Jason Walker who finished from the edge of the area.

Whitehaven then missed a penalty, the Reds keeper diving to his left to palm away.

Amateurs then got an equalizer through Tommy Whitehead, who was put through by Nathan Dryden. He calmly slotted past the Reds keeper.

Reds pushed again, and Walker got his 2nd from a cross. With the game only having 6 mins left, a quick counter gave Nathan Dryden a close finish from a tight angle. Dryden did not let the Amateurs down and finished confidently.

2-2 Final score with Amateurs Darren Lumsden picking up the man of the match award.
