The u7 Lionesses took part in their first festival of the season today at French Fields as the Penrith Angels hosted a brilliant fun and friendly event........But BIG NEWS was on the cards with an amazing NEW and FIRST Sponsor for the Young Lionesses!!
The girls have made all the parents proud of them this season, they are bottom age in a u8 age band but they have continually smiled and brought lots of enthusiasm to the Club from day 1 and never stopped trying against very hard opponents.
The Lionesses proved very capable of showing off their awesome skills on a red hot day with both Sofia Redmond & Leyla Wilson being a constant threat for the young Lionesses. Both girls showing amazing skills on the ball to continually taking the ball on long dribbles and winning 1v1s with some lovely goals at the end of it.
The Lionesses got off the mark on the day however down to Indie 'Hot Shot' Hewitt who has been a brilliant member of the team throughout the season and showed her awesome eye for goal once again today. The Lionesses did come under pressure during the day but these Lionesses have really determination and 'Super' Summer Dobbin was once again showing her tackling skillz, never one to shy away from a tackle, she did so well and was really brave, the spectators commented on how much she's developing, massive well done.
The Lionesses are a chatty bunch and that helps on the pitch and Ellie Lace was constantly talking to team mates and helping the team be positive and go forward and you can tell she just loves her football and was amazing all day.
The Lionesses continued to play well as a team as the day went on and got more and more success, they had a couple of difficult games against very good teams which was no shame and the girls will be better next year for the experience.
As the day grew to a close, one girl grew more and more, Olivia Anthony is a tall girl and she used this height to her advantage which lots don't, so big well done to her, she was able to protect the ball really well and set off lots of good attacks.
However the day was a real celebration as well as the girls who have not had a kit all season which has affected their confidence, were given the new that the awesome people at Baird's Bridal have come forward to support these young girls as when they heard about them they couldn't resist, and wanted to help their confidence. We as a club really thank them and really looking forward to unveiling the kits to the Lionesses. If you have any Bridal needs or with First Holy Communion coming up need a lovely outfit/dress then this is the place to go, give them a look!!
