Whitehaven Ladies FC were formed for the start of the 2007 / 2008 season and take part in the Lancashire County League.

Initially about a dozen girls came to pre-season training and once the season was up and running numbers quickly grew, we now have a first team squad of 24 players signed on and if the growth continues, it is our intention to support the proposal to form a Cumbria County League for the 2008 / 2009 and field two teams, the first team will play in the Lancashire League and the reserves will play in the Cumbria League.

The team is drawn from a huge catchment area and we have girls travelling from as far as Carlisle in the north, Penrith to the east and Millom from the south, it is the policy of the football club to promote Ladies football as much as we can and it is the intention of the coaching staff to be successful and take the team as far as we can go.

The Ladies are coached by David Moore and Geoff Nicholson, two experienced and successful FA LEVEL 2 coaches and as the playing staff increases we also intend to increase the coaching staff.

The first season in the Lancashire league has been a success, it took us some time to get to grips with the demands of league football but once we adapted, everything fell into place and we finished the season unbeaten since December, recording some impressive high scoring victories against quality opposition and now with the emergence of a Cumbria League it is our intention to strengthen our squad and enter a Reserve side in the Cumbria League.
